FIRST FIFTEEN FORUM - INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

Get Involved

WLG offers three different internship programs for lawyers in their first fifteen years of practice.

WLG | beyond borders

WLG | beyond borders is a six-week digital program for associates (two to seven years of experience). The sessions are designed with professional growth in mind. Participants can expect to learn about and put into practice the "softer skills" of being a lawyer, for example speaking, presenting, writing, time management skills, networking, mentorship, elevator pitches, conversing, and more. Sessions may include optional projects with promotional opportunities.

WLG | beyond borders runs in parallel with WLG | exchange and has some cross-program opportunities.

WLG | immersion

WLG | immersion is a three month to year-long international learning experience for young lawyers at our member firms worldwide, during which they spend that time interning at another member firm.

The program is tailored to meet the professional development needs and interests of the intern, while taking into account the practice needs and strengths of the host firm. Unlike WLG | exchange, the host firm can add an intern to their team without exchanging another team member—although this is also an option. Member firms work together to determine the appropriate time and duration of the internship, as well as the financial and logistical arrangements.

The longer program allows both the intern and the host firm to become immersed in collaborative projects, strengthening the ongoing relationships between our member firms worldwide.

WLG | exchange

WLG | exchange is a unique relationship-building program that combines multiple peer internships into one, relatively short, intensive, international experience.

Instead of a one-to-one exchange between two firms (one intern for one intern) member firms are grouped into clusters. Each firm sends a young lawyer to each of the other firms in their cluster for approximately one month. At the same time, that firm hosts one lawyer from each of the other firms in their cluster. The net result is a more diversified cultural and professional experience for both the interns and the host firms.

The primary objectives of WLG | exchange are to foster collaboration among young lawyers from World Law Group member firms by helping interns get an early start on forging a global network through an exchange of knowledge about international law and business and cultural norms.
