1. Briefly describe your practice.
Until the end of April this year I was blessed to have been Chair of Gowling WLG and a member of our International Board, giving me the opportunity to play a key part in our firm's accelerated international growth, especially in Europe and the Middle East. In this role I was also able to drive forward our Diversity, Equality & Inclusion strategy resulting in our business becoming even more diverse and inclusive and helping us achieve Mansfield Certification in the UK. We have so much to celebrate!
Having stepped down as Chair as planned at the end of my term, I remain a partner of Gowling WLG and play a leading role developing our international business and supporting our Executive Board and our International Board to drive forward our global ambitions and relationships and making things happen.
I became an M&A/private equity partner at Gowling WLG almost 26 years ago and it has been fantastic to be part of our firm's growth over the years - long may this continue!
2. You were a first-time delegate at WLG | summit Bali '24. Tell us about your experience and takeaways.
I was thrilled to be involved in the whole summit! As a first-time attendee I was made to feel welcome by everyone across WLG so thank you for putting on such a fantastic programme and, to everyone I met in Bali, thank you for such a warm welcome!
There is so much we, the World Law Group, can do together to connect, collaborate and create huge opportunities for all our member firms, and meeting in person really helps to strengthen relationships across our platform.
3. You are also attending the upcoming IBA Breakfast hosted by Santamarina y Steta S.C. in Mexico City. What are you looking forward to regarding that event?
Having a special opportunity to meet as members of WLG in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the IBA Annual Conference is fantastic and a real opportunity to relax 'amongst friends'" it gives us all time to reconnect with new WLG friends and colleagues and to meet new delegates from member firms for the first time.
I'm sure all our member firms will join me in saying a huge big thank you to Santamarina y Steta S.C. for hosting us at their special IBA breakfast for WLG member firms. I'm really looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
4. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Skiing in the winter; sun, sea, and sand (often in Cyprus!) in the summer!
I also enjoy traveling the world when I can and spending quality time with my loving wife, family, and friends whenever possible. And I never forget the joys the occasional glass or two of fantastic wine brings to our lives!
