1. Describe your practice.
I advise clients in the energy and resource sectors on the structuring and development of major projects and on related regulatory matters and commercial transactions. I am also MinterEllison's Managing Partner – International. In that role, I oversee MinterEllison's international markets strategy, its foreign offices, and its engagement with foreign firms and networks.
2. Your firm recently hosted WLG | regional Brisbane '23 and regularly participates in WLG | exchange. What benefits do WLG young lawyer programs provide MinterEllison?
MinterEllison has benefitted greatly from WLG's young lawyer programs. The Asia-Pacific regional conferences and WLG | exchange are great examples of programs that provide our aspiring and junior partners with opportunities to expand their networks beyond Australia in a personal and meaningful way. Those programs are designed to give participants an opportunity to really get to know one another and begin developing the trust that is so important to fostering referrals. Our long-term success as an independent firm depends on those networks so it's never too early to get our younger lawyers involved.
3. Tell us about a recent client, marketing, or other collaboration with another WLG member firm(s).
We've had plenty, including three referrals to participants at the WLG | regional Brisbane '23 conference here just weeks ago. It was great to be able to refer matters to colleagues so soon after the event and hopefully help them demonstrate the value of investing in a flight down under.
4. What is your favorite vacation spot?
These days just about anywhere with patchy or non-existent mobile coverage suits me just fine. If there are fish or a wave to be caught, all the better.
