Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! Reflecting on your time as a WLG Key Contact Partner, what aspect of the role has left an impact on you?

If you discuss with "old timers," you will learn that the Belgian firm was one of the founders of WLG, through Mr. Bernard Hanotiau. We are quite proud of the network's expansion and developments. Meetings are always very important moments to reinforce collaboration and friendship. Even though Belgium is a small country, we have had numerous occasions to work on WLG matters, coming from WLG members.

How were you involved with WLG over the years?

Most importantly: presence in meetings, being active in practice groups, being member of the board, and making presentations during meetings.

What advice would you give to a junior lawyer who is just starting to become involved with the network?

Be present in meetings and be active in the groups. Even though technology allows members to communicate using various IT or telecom tools, physical presence and relationships are still the source of success, as this is the only way to create trust.

What do you plan to do in retirement?

Just walk with my dog and read the newspaper… joke!

I will act as a director on the boards of several companies and work as a conciliator or mediator for shareholder matters, as I am a registered mediator in Belgium.
