Guatamala | Online Application For Migration Movement Certificate: Promoting More Efficient Processes

Hiring foreign personnel under the legal framework in Guatemala requires a series of steps and processes before different institutions. One of them is the application for temporary residence for a migrant worker before the Guatemalan Immigration Institute. This application must be submitted in a file composed of various documents, one of them being the Certificate of Migratory Movements.
The Guatemalan Immigration Institute has enabled a new virtual process for requesting the certificate of migratory movements, which seeks to facilitate the processes and make them more efficient by taking advantage of technological tools. In the past, this certificate created a lot of confusion among foreigners regarding the requirements, delivery time, and content of it. Therefore, here we share the details of obtaining it on the new online platform and other points to consider. Authorities from the Subdirectorate of Migratory Movements reported that the steps to obtain, that are:

Generate a payment slip, entering the applicant's data in the online form in the "Migrapagos" option.

Make the payment at a CHN Bank branch within 48 hours after generating the slip.

Then, on the official page of the Guatemalan Migration Institute, in the "online services" option, you must attach the following:

Complete the application form indicating the email address where you will receive the certification.

Payment slip

Scanner of the passport data sheet

Scanner of the stamp from the last entry into the country

Scanner of the DPI (if applicable).

In the case of minors, also attach birth certificates and identification documents of the parents.
Within 3 business days, the certification will be issued and sent to the indicated email address, ready to be printed and used by the applicant. If this certification is to be used to apply for residency, it must be considered that this certification must contain the last entry into the country, which must also appear on the stamps of the passport.
