1. Tell us a little about your practice.
Since 2020 I have been appointed as Coordinator of the Corporate Compliance practice at Santamarina y Steta, S.C. (Mexico), focused on antitrust and anti-corruption matters. Additionally, I am part of the Antitrust Practice group of the firm advising clients in merger control cases and antitrust investigations.

2. How did you get involved in World Law Group and what has been your experience so far?
In 2017 I was invited to take part in WLG’s International Exchange Program at Gowling WLG in London. The program made me realize the importance of the connections and the greatness of the firms that are part of WLG. While there, I met Karla Lini, a partner in TozziniFreire’s compliance group. With Karla, Manu Hersch from Brochou (whom I met at another WLG event), Renata Muzzi (TozziniFreire) and Guillermo Jorge (Bruchou), we have been building WLG’s new (and amazing) Compliance and Investigations group.

This new group will cover matters related to anti-corruption, white-collar crimes, anti-money laundering and compliance programs. Come and join!

3. Tell us about a client collaboration with another WLG firm.
Last year we collaborated with Philippi, Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría in Colombia on an antitrust merger review case assisting a number of investors in selling their participation in Biofilm to Taghleef Industries. This was different and interesting, as most transactions coming from abroad to Mexico are from the US, China and Europe.

4. Where would you recommend your WLG colleagues visit when travel opens back up?
Anywhere with sand, sea and sun! The best part… Mexico is full of it. From the Caribbean to Cabo, it is beautiful! However, my favorite beach spot in Mexico is the beaches of Oaxaca on the southern coast of Mexico.
