First-time WLG | regional Delegate
1. Briefly describe your practice.
My practice covers a broad range of topics in the financial market law field (including capital markets law). I also handle general contract and corporate law matters. A special focus of mine concerns regulatory advice to financial services providers (including a lot of funds distribution work), regulatory and contract law advice to companies in the FinTech field, advice to large shareholders and board members of listed companies, and capital markets law compliance advice.
2. Share with us something new and interesting about your firm (new practice area, implementation of a new technology, etc.)
I have invested a lot in our capital markets law practice which we want to further strengthen within CMS Switzerland, CMS as a whole – and why not also World Law Group?
ESG is a current buzzword. While Switzerland is adopting trends rather slowly, there is not a lot of tangible legislation yet. Unfortunately, this means that there is currently not much work for Swiss lawyers in that field. This will, however, change.
3. What was your experience like at WLG | regional Dublin '22?
It was a great experience. I met several interesting people at a similar stage in their careers and, more generally, their lives. Sharing experiences with them was inspiring. Also, the event was perfectly organized by Mason Hayes & Curran, including two great dinners.
I had never been to Dublin before and was fascinated by the city's drive, recalling that it was hit hard by the financial crisis. Since then, the city and the country seem to have done very well.
4. What is something you like to do in your free time?
I do not have a lot of free time, to be honest. However, I am an okay runner. I'm trying not to become any slower, which requires me to work out almost every day for at least half an hour. Otherwise, I am a fan of the numerous public playgrounds Zürich has to offer, which I visit with my daughter and wife often.
5. Have you had any recent client, marketing, or other collaboration with a WLG member firm(s)? If so, please briefly tell us about that.
We are currently working with Mason Hayes & Curran on preparing a small cross-border IPO. Funny enough, I had the first call in this matter when I arrived at Dublin Airport for the WLG Regional Meeting. We also discussed some aspects of the matter when I was at MHC's offices for the WLG meeting.
