1. Tell us about an interesting client matter you've worked on.

My central practice area is cross-border litigation, and I mostly have inbound cases. I sometimes have to represent my clients in Korean court concerning disputes governed by foreign law, such as Chinese Tort law or the Illinois Trade Secret Act. These disputes are always challenging but rewarding because I can learn new things.

2. What is the biggest challenge you're currently seeing in your practice area?

As more and more big Korean companies get their own experience working with foreign law firms, they need less help from domestic firms in dealing with cross-border disputes. We have to add concrete values to those cases to persuade Korean companies to retain a domestic law firm alongside foreign firms in outbound cases.

3. What was your experience like at WLG | summit Atlanta '22?

I enjoyed everything in Atlanta. The programs were informative and motivating; they made me contemplate further cooperation between BKL and WLG member firms along with my career. I also would like to express my sincere gratitude for the host firm's warm hospitality and well-planned social events, such as the consulate networking lunch.

4. What is a cause that is important to you?

I have defended refugees' rights in Korea since my study at the University of Michigan in 2002. Refugee protection is one of my major pro bono activities.
