1) Tell us about the most unique client matter that you've worked on.
My firm, Greenberg Glusker, acts as outside general counsel for the Bob Marley estate. In 2014, I worked on a landmark deal to help launch the Marley Natural brand of cannabis and cannabis-related products. Our firm did not have much cannabis-related expertise at the time. My colleague, Bonnie Eskenazi, who spearheaded the deal, tasked me with getting up to speed about the maze of cannabis-related laws, rules and regulations, all of which seemingly changed by the hour. The deal was groundbreaking, and also helped launch our firm’s Cannabis Industry Group.

2) What is one relationship that you have made with another WLG member firm lawyer that has been helpful to you or led to a referral?
Lewis Horowitz of Lane Powell in Seattle has been instrumental in launching the WLG’s Cannabis Group. We have been on many (very early morning) WLG webinars. Having the chance to pick his brain about the growth of his law firm’s cannabis practice (and other issues) has been invaluable.

3) What was your favorite vacation?
My wife and I just got back from East Africa, where we did gorilla trekking in the Virunga Mountains in Uganda and spent a week on safari in the Masai Mara. Both places were magical.

4) Please share a WLG referral that you've either received or made.
Jörn Witt of CMS Germany referred to us a medical cannabis client looking to do business in California, which we greatly appreciated. I had the chance to meet with Jörn and his colleague Susanne Pech at MJBizCon in Las Vegas this past December – it was great catching up with them in person.
