Argentina: The Judiciary of San Luis Approves the Implementation of the Generative Artificial Intelligence Program

Through Agreement No. 202-STJSL-2024, the Judiciary of San Luis approved the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Program. This initiative is based on the great capacity of the tools to improve management, accelerate case resolution, ensure efficiency, and ultimately increase the trust of citizens in the justice system, while also maintaining the technological forefront of the Judiciary.

The approved implementation program by the Court includes several phases, starting with evaluation and planning, followed by comprehensive training for judicial staff, a pilot deployment, and finally, full implementation across all areas of the Judiciary of San Luis.

·        The system used: Iurix Mind

Iurix Mind combines advanced natural language models with the specific legal context of the Iurix Cloud Native file, ensuring the relevance and appropriateness of the generated information. This allows judges, officials, employees, and lawyers to interact with the file more efficiently, generate judicial documentation, improve decision-making, and optimize workflows.

·        Guidelines for implementation

The Judiciary of the Province of San Luis established guidelines for the implementation and use of Iurix Mind. Its use, as well as the use of any other Artificial Intelligence and Generative Artificial Intelligence technology, in any phase of the Program, does not exempt or diminish the functional and ethical responsibilities imposed on magistrates and officials by the Constitution and laws in the performance of their duties. These technologies are intended to enhance, complement, and strengthen the skills and judgment of judicial operators, not to replace or substitute them.

Moreover, the responsibility for judicial decision-making rests exclusively with the competent magistrates and officials, who must exercise their critical judgment and apply their legal knowledge in evaluating and using the results provided by Artificial Intelligence systems.

Finally, it was emphasized that magistrates and officials have an obligation to stay updated on the functioning, scope, and limitations of the implemented Artificial Intelligence technologies, in order to use them responsibly and efficiently within the framework of their functions.
