Update of the Tax Plan of the Municipality of San Pedro Sula for 2025
Emanuel López, associate in Honduras, expert in Administrative Law and Compliance shares this article on the Municipality of San Pedro Sula and the approval of the new Tax Plan for 2025.
Through Act No. 113 of the Ordinary Session held by the Municipal Corporation of San Pedro Sula on the 12th of September 2024, issued on the 30th day of December 2024, it is certified that the Agreement contained in Item No. 17, titled "Motion for the Approval of the 2025 Tax Plan,” was approved by majority vote. This new Tax Plan establishes a regulatory framework that sets the foundations for fiscal collection in the municipality. The document defines the municipal fees, taxes, and contributions applicable starting this year.
The Tax Plan is a key instrument for financing municipal services, infrastructure development, and other local projects. The 2025 version introduces adjustments aimed at modernizing the fiscal system, promoting transparency, and optimizing revenue collection.
Among the most notable changes are:
• Fee Updates: Certain fees are adjusted according to industry and economic development at the municipal level.
• Streamlined Procedures via Digital Platforms: In previous years, the municipality enabled payment options through digital platforms, facilitating timely payments and reducing delays for taxpayers.
It is crucial for businesses to stay updated with these provisions to ensure compliance with regulations, take advantage of potential tax benefits, and maintain operational efficiency while avoiding fines or penalties for non-compliance. Companies should adopt internal measures to ensure adherence to municipal fiscal regulations. This approach not only prevents sanctions but also reinforces a corporate culture aligned with best regulatory practices.
The new Tax Plan seeks to strengthen the municipality's capacity to meet local needs while fostering a modern and accessible fiscal environment. Staying informed and acting in accordance with the current regulations is essential. This regulatory framework represents an opportunity to consolidate good practices and promote a healthy regulatory environment.
