1) ESG is a new practice at Sorainen. Can you tell us a bit about the practice and what you do?
Sorainen launched its ESG service in the beginning of 2022. Even before officially launching this service, we had already been advising on various ESG–related topics. We currently assist clients on topics such as green finance, implementation of the sustainability-related disclosures in the financial sector (EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, EU Taxonomy), green energy transactions, environmental regulations, AML compliance, anti-corruption, employment policies and related matters.
By launching an ESG service, we emphasize the benefits of a well-structured ESG framework, which could meet the expectations of various stakeholders (investors, shareholders, employees, clients). Our clients face challenges due to complex requirements and lack of unified reporting standards. We see our role in helping businesses to navigate the sustainability landscape and to use related opportunities. Notably, our firm implements a number of internal sustainability initiatives and has a Sorainen Sustainability Officer.
2) You recently spoke at our CSR Forum meeting (thank you!), what is one thing you hope to gain as you get more involved in WLG?
Getting more involved in WLG helps to gain a wider perspective. I am happy to explore the views from all around the globe rather than purely local and EU-level initiatives.
3) What is an interesting client matter you've recently worked on?
It was extremely interesting to perform the due diligence of the EU sustainability-related disclosure requirements in the financial sector and to provide a roadmap of the needed steps to ensure compliance.
4) Who has been a role model in your life and why?
My role model is my grandmother. She has been sincerely caring about the environment in which we live, the community and each member of it.
