SyCipLaw Lawyers Recognized in Asia Business Law Journal 2022 A-List of Top 100 Philippine Lawyers
Asia Business Law Journal (ABLJ) has released its list of top 100 Philippine lawyers in private practice. The list includes six partners and two of counsel from SyCipLaw.

Two retired SyCipLaw partners, Mia G. Gentugaya and Marievic G. Ramos-Añonuevo, also made it in this year's A-List.
ABLJ's announcement on the list included comments from clients lauding some of the “A-listers.” SyCipLaw partner Arlene Maneja, who is newly ranked, was praised by Mark Rilles, PXP Energy finance controller, for her “exemplary work in relation to, among others, international contract negotiations and due diligence for our company during the past 10 years.” Gavin MacLaren, a senior partner and CEO at Australian law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Melbourne, also gives credit to Ms. Maneja for “providing very valuable legal support” in relation to the development of multibillion-dollar oil and gas resources in the West Philippine Sea. He added that Ms. Maneja “clearly had the trust and confidence of our client and contributed insightful knowledge on a wide range of issues based on an excellent understanding of relevant law and practice.”
The ABLJ announcement also quoted Mr. MacLaren who praised SyCipLaw of-counsel Emmanuel Lombos for his advice on constitutional and administrative law matters. “Lombos demonstrated strong knowledge of relevant law and practice and provided insightful support and guidance on a range of unique and challenging matters, including constitutional, legal, practical and political matters.” He added that, “we particularly valued his judgement and experience on key strategic issues including the juxtaposition of legal issues with political and practical considerations.”
