Brazil: TozziniFreire Advogados Received the Diversity Initiative of the Year Award in the Latin Lawyer Awards 2023

Published on May 11, 2023

The ceremony was held on May 11th, 2023, in São Paulo, and was attended by important Brazilian law firms.

This recognition was awarded for our initiatives aimed at hiring, retaining, and developing trans people through TFInclusão, the firm's inclusion program. Our program includes targeted selection processes, mentoring and periodic monitoring, as well as the possibility of covering all expenses related to the adequacy of documents and civil registration to our employees’ gender identities, including pro bono legal assistance in cases of judicial rectification.

TFInclusion’s structure

It is divided into three pillars: TFDiversity (affirmative actions and respect for physical, ethnic-racial, sexual, gender, origin, etc.); TFPro Bono (provides legal advice to public interest organizations); and TFSocial (encourages engagement in actions that benefit the communities where we are present).

The program also has its own governance, which guarantees its objectives and integrity, and a committee of partners that approves budget, goals, and projects. There is a Working Group composed by five people who work on the 3 pillars mentioned above and all the work is centered on five main, but not exclusive, themes: Gender; LGBTI+; People in refugee status; Race; and People with Disabilities.

In addition to this award, TozziniFreire has increasingly gained prominence for its diversity initiatives such as Diversity & Inclusion: Outstanding Firm - Chambers Brazil Awards 2022; Best Firm for Diversity and Inclusion - Brazil’s Leading Lawyers Awards - Leaders League 2022; Latin Lawyer and Vance Center Pro Bono Leading Lights 2022; Municipal Badge of Human Rights and Diversity 2022; and Lumen Award 2022.
