due to the ongoing outbreak of the coronavirus the Board of Directors had to decide to cancel the Spring 2020 Conference that was scheduled to be hosted by member firm PLMJ in Lisbon, Portugal, early May.

The Board of Directors, WLG Staff Team and host firm PLMJ have been monitoring global developments related to COVID-19 since its outbreak.  All of us have spent a lot of time considering the factors involved including the increasing spread of global cases of the virus, the potential for unpredictable further travel restrictions, quarantine protocols in certain countries, as well as firm travel policies relating to the outbreak of the virus, among others. We specifically also had to take into account the resulting risk of a conference with low attendance and its potential impact on the host firm PLMJ and WLG as well as the financial consequences for our organization associated therewith.  After much deliberation, a final decision was made to cancel the event.

PLMJ has dedicated a lot of effort, time and emotion in preparing the event and to make the conference a success.  I visited the firm myself in January and met with many of its partners who were looking forward to hosting all of you in their new offices.  We thank Luis Sarraga Leal and the team of PLMJ for all their hard work. I appreciate the firm’s eagerness to host a future conference and we will announce a date once it has been confirmed.

Thank you for your continued support of World Law Group.  I am sorry I will not see you this Spring and look forward to meeting again in Atlanta this October.

Best,
