1 )What is something interesting you're working on right now?

Bae Kim & Lee's (BKL) arbitration team was established in 2005 as Korea's first arbitration specialized team. We currently represent clients in various forms of international arbitrations and cross-border litigation. My practice has often focused on international arbitration, with the bulk of the cases relating to EPC and international construction. That said, recently we have seen various international arbitrations arising from financial disputes involving complex share acquisition and put option transactions. We also have many complex enforcement cases involving multiple parties and complex legal issues attracted from rather vague arbitral awards. Investor-state dispute is another area of focus—BKL represents the Korean government in the highly publicized ICSID case against the Korean government filed by Lone Star Funds.

2) You recently spoke at the Dispute Resolution Group meeting. Tell us something valuable you've gained or hope to gain from this group.

My recent experience was delightful—the brief but meaningful opportunity to interact with other practitioners was a lasting experience. I hope to have further opportunities going forward.

3) If someone were to visit your country, what is a must-see/must-do?

Visit BKL's office—you will always be welcomed! Our office is located in the heart of Seoul and overlooks some of the most historical sites, so there is no shortage of pleasure outside of work.

4) What is something you're passionate about outside of law?

Spending quality hours with my family. I think we all agree that's what keeps us going in this competitive industry.
