SycipLaw Participates in Trash to Cashback Program During WLG | impact
Jumping off from its solid waste management initiatives in 2021, SyCipLaw (Philippines) partnered with Basic Environmental Systems and Management Inc. (BEST) to participate in its Trash to Cashback Program. As a part of WLG | impact, BEST set up a pop-up booth every week in June at the SyCipLaw building to collect recyclable materials from tenants in exchange for environmental points. Through the firm’s partnership with BEST and BEEPXTRA Philippines, Inc. (bXTRA), the points are used to purchase food and other items for underprivileged communities around Metro Manila.
Given the rising amount of electronic products, the firm also conducted a community e-waste collection and recycling drive as part of its “SyCipLaw Green Initiative”. Through this program, old computers, mobile devices, lightbulbs, power tools, and appliances were collected.
The firm also organized a virtual public webinar series on circular living and e-waste management in cooperation with Humble Sustainability and the Phililppine office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as well as its electronic waste (e-waste) collection drive, anchored on the theme, "SyCipLaw Green Initiative", to encourage responsible disposal of discarded electronic devices and appliances among its employees.
The e-waste drive kicked off with a webinar series on circular living and e-waste management, Friday, June 24, 2022, virtually in cooperation with Humble Sustainability and the Philippine office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO):
Session 1: Circular Living 101

12:00 pm PHT
Session 2: Effectively Managing E-Waste at Home

Collection bins and crates were set up at the SyCipLaw Center, 2/F 105 Paseo de Roxas, Makati, from June 27-29, 2022. Those who wish to take part in this worthy endeavor were encouraged to bring discarded e-waste such as non-working computers, laptops, mobile and other data-containing devices, light bulbs, power tools and other gadgets or appliances that are beyond repair and are simply sitting in their homes unused, for proper disposal.
